Registration, start and finish are at the new Hilton Hotel, 310 W. 6th Street in downtown Vancouver, WA. The hotel is at the corner of 6th & Columbia Streets across from Esther Short Park. From I-5 South, take the Mill Plain Blvd. exit, turn right onto Mill Plain, turn left on Columbia, and proceed to the hotel location. From I-5 North, take exit 1-B (second exit after leaving the bridge), turn left on 6th Street, and proceed to Columbia Street & the hotel. Use the convenient and inexpensive Park and Go lot across from the Hotel and Esther Short Park as a place to leave your car while you are enjoying the festival.
Description
Vancouver's 10th annual International Discovery Walk Festival offers three days of non-competitive walking events, entertainment, food, and an opportunity to meet walking friends from around the world. You can enjoy walking with family and friends using a choice of routes from a short 5 km (about 3 miles) to a marathon 42 km (about 26 miles), or one of three route lengths between those two. All walkers completing an event receive an award. We also offer a bike event and two swim events on Saturday, April 29th. Complete a walk, a bike, and a swim event during the weekend and you will receive a special "Try-athalon" patch. Highlights of the weekend will include a Children's Culture Parade at 10:00 am on Friday, April 28th, featuring over 1000 3rd & 4th graders; the Mayor's Friendship Walk on Friday evening starting between 4:00 & 6:00 pm; and a Family Fun Walk with special children's activities and entertainment on Saturday, April 29th, for parents and their children to see how much fun walking can be. We invite all of Vancouver to come and enjoy the Discouvery Walk Festival, and to make walking a part of a healthy life style.
