VANCOUVER, Wash.—(May 26, 2009) – Clark County soldiers recently returned from duty overseas will lead the Annual National Pause for the Pledge at the June 14 Flag Day Ceremony Presented by Veolia Water. This patriotic ceremony is organized by Fort Vancouver National Trust and held at the Fort Vancouver National Site's bandstand on the Parade Ground. WHAT: Flag Day Ceremony Presented by Veolia Water WHO: Organized by Fort Vancouver National Trust's Celebrate Freedom office WHEN: Sunday, June 14, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. WHERE: The bandstand on the Parade Ground, Fort Vancouver National Site across from the Grant House, 1101 Officers Row WHY: To honor our nation's flag, and to join citizens in communities across the nation to pause and recite the Pledge of Allegiance FLAG DAY HISTORY: In 1949 President Harry S. Truman declared Flag Day a national holiday commemorating the nation's flag as a symbol of the country, its history and ideals.
