Description

National Unpublished Writers' Day is an annual event held in partnership between the Clark County Historical Museum and the Washington State University Vancouver writing center and creative media and digital culture program. The event takes place from 1 - 5 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Clark County Historical Museum. Admission is free. National Unpublished Writers' Day highlights the new Brautigan Library at the museum. The library is a unique collection of nearly 400 unpublished manuscripts inspired by renowned Washington-born author Richard Brautigan's vision of a library where anyone could deposit a copy of their self-authored book. Activities include workshops, presentations, discussions, readings and a series of "creative stations" that will offer opportunities to learn a new writing skill. All genres of writing are encouraged. Professional writers from WSU Vancouver and the local community will provide encouragement and resources. Writers offering expertise include Dene Grigar, director of the creative media and digital culture program, Kandy Robertson, associate professor and coordinator of the WSU Vancouver writing center, Megan Trevarthen, editor-in-chief of the Salmon Creek Journal, Ron Carr, a local author and Christopher Luna, Vancouver's resident poet.
