Bloodworks Northwest is a network of excellence for all things blood—serving nearly 90 hospitals in Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
We are non-profit, independent, volunteer-supported and community-based. The name is new, but we have 70 years of Northwest history and 250,000 donors behind us. We started in 1944 supporting hospitals in King County (Seattle) WA, and later became Puget Sound Blood
Center. Locally we were known (until recently) as the Oregon and Southwest Washington Blood Program.
Today BloodworksNW provides 100% of the blood needed in Clark and Cowlitz Counties and more than half of all lifesaving blood components used by patients and hospitals in Portland and surrounding region. BloodworksNW was selected as the primary supplier of blood components for both Legacy Health and for Providence Health in Portland. We support every hospital in Clark and Cowlitz Counties as the exclusive blood services provider for PeaceHealth and Legacy Salmon Creek in Vancouver and St. John Medical Center in Longview.
As a community-based non-profit, we collect donations only in areas where we are also supporting local patients and hospitals. We are introducing ourselves to community and business leaders so that you get to know us, and the role we play in local healthcare.
